Our story, how it all began…
Hello, I’m Bryan Parsons, owner of True North Marine Watch. As a boy, I was fortunate enough to be in a family not wealthy by any means, but comfortable enough to enjoy the privilege of owning a boat. Over the years, my father taught me boat basics such as ensuring the drain plug was in to checking the lights on the trailer to ensure they were in working order for the ride home. As I got older, he taught me not only how to run boats and the importance of preventative maintenance to cut down on unnecessary breakdowns which always seem to happen at the worst possible times, but he also instilled in me the “how and why” it is important to keep boats running well, cleaned, and looking like new.

I have owned a half dozen boats, none of which were new. In fact, many were more than a decade or two old. These older boats required attention to maintenance details, such as checking battery voltage, regular draining of the fuel filter bowls for signs of water, exercising the operating systems like the trim and tilt, steering and trim tabs. Not to mention regularly ensuring the oil level was adequate, flushing the motors after use, and being sure the bilge pump and all electrical systems were in working order. Owning an older boat also requires treatment of the upholstery, canvas, and Eisen glass.
When I got married, I hit the jackpot and found someone that loved boats and the water as much as I did! We owned center consoles, up through large express style sport fishers. Eventually we settled back on the faster, lean and mean no-frills center console and began fishing in tournaments. We tried to keep it fun and even won a time or two! Eventually, we were outgunned by hired captains and open checkbooks. I have spent the last 15 years working 12-hour days trying to figure out a way to split my time between family, marriage, and work, which leaves little time for anything else. I thought, “There has to be a better way.” As a detail oriented, organized, hard working person, I knew I needed to make a change.
After a day out fishing, a good friend and I were discussing life over a few cold beers and an idea was born! My inner compass was leading me in a new direction, my True North.
